Neither UBS nor Credit Suisse operates mines or drilling rigs. But Berne Declaration wanted a more complete answer. We examined the financial links of the Swiss banks to firms in the raw materials sector. In over 60 individual cases, our research show how often raw material extraction leads to human rights violations. The Swiss banks urgently need sound internal standards, in order to responsibly deal with the challenges of human rights and climate change.
